Program Overview

Program Description:

In just under two weeks, experience what it takes to become a marine biologist in crystal clear Caribbean waters. After getting familiar with your new home for the trip, a 46-foot catamaran, dive right into the fun on the first of many underwater adventures on your way to earning dive certifications. Once you’re a certified diver, you can start to focus on exploring pristine marine parks, getting to know reef ecosystems and wakeboarding across the glassy surface of what will become your classroom for the summer.

Take your skills out into the wild and experience marine biology up close. Map the trumpet and angel fish that have jumped from the pages of your books and make note of their habits, relationships and behavior. Collect data for an international project and contribute your findings to the conservation of marine habitats. Make a difference while volunteering with multiple organizations dedicated to preserving and enriching the beautiful beaches and reefs of the Leeward Islands. It’s a fun and fantastic way to earn community service hours while having a blast in the sun with your crew.

Not every day is spent entirely in your fins. Explore the deserted island of Tintamarre in search of buried treasure and hike to the top of the aptly named Mt. Scenery in Saba to get a different angle of the work you are doing. This trip has been just the beginning of a lifetime voyage. Your passion for sailing, diving and marine biology has only begun.

Setting Description:
The warm waters surrounding the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean welcome you with gentle waves and some of the world’s best preserved reefs. Explore your love for marine biology above and below as you learn to sail a catamaran and become certified to dive. The diversity of marine life will astonish you as you glide past sea turtles, moray eels and butterfly fish. In a protected marine park, dive deep to get familiar with volcanic formations and the marine life they house. End your evenings in the warm glow of the setting sun, feet dangling off the side of the boat, discussing what you might see tomorrow with your friends.
