Each programme takes you to splendid heritage sites to learn their history and understand how they are conserved and interpreted Each programme introduces you to key specialists in the field who take you behind the scenes to find out how they work with artefacts and historic environments. Some of the programmes offer bespoke internships at splendid heritage sites so you can fulfil the requirements of your degree course. Each programme totals 150 hours of tutored or guided study which, subject to their approval and the completion of assessed work, can be recognised as credit towards your degree by your university. If you hope to use the course to gain credit, please discuss this with your institution in advance.
Setting Description:
We are situated in the historic city of Lincoln at the heart of the UK which has a fascinating past, most notably as the Roman city of Lindum Colonia and later as a medieval site of great historic importance, with the construction of Lincoln Castle under the Norman ruler, William the Conqueror. Lincoln Cathedral is one of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe and towers above the city as a prominent landmark. With its awe-inspiring Romanesque West Front the Cathedral has been a place of worship for almost 1000 years. Lincoln's Bishops Palace is an extraordinary medieval building. Standing in the shadow of beautiful Lincoln Cathedral, on a hilltop with sweeping views, the palace was once among the most important buildings in the country. It hosted visits by Henry VIII and James I. Lincoln also boasts an award winning art and archaeology Museum, highlights of its collection include a complete Roman mosaic floor, one of the earliest Bronze Age gold bracelets found in Europe and a wealth
