Program Description:

This is an Occupational Associate's Degree Program.21 months (day program); 24 months (evening program)With its focus on providing a foundation, a degree in Criminal Justice will provide the student with both the theory as well as the application of skills necessary to qualify for entry-level positions in various criminal justice professions.EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVESUtilizing both classroom setting and a "hands-on" approach, students will practice various skills such as conducting a criminal investigation that includes processing a crime scene and collecting and preserving evidence, conducting interviews and interrogations, writing police reports, and testifying in criminal court. The graduate of this program will develop entry-level skills for employment in positions that include but are not limited to Correctional Officers, Security Guards, Private Investigators, Police, Fire and EMS Dispatchers, Wildlife Conservation Officers, and Human Services Workers.Students who qualify for police academy externship CJ256 by meeting  special criteria may qualify as Police Officers or Deputy Sheriffs as well, students must see the Criminal Justice Program Director after attending one year as a student at BTI to obtain an application for this special class.
