Program Description:

BGU International offers students the opportunity to experience a unique study abroad program that combines academic excellence and cultural immersion. Students take their courses in English and take Hebrew language to help them acclimate into local society. All study abroad participants live in on-campus dorms with local Israeli students and have access to the vibrant student life of the BGU campus. Community engagement and volunteerism are integral parts of the campus culture and study abroad students are highly encouraged to get involved. Academic research and independent study options are also available.

Students study Hebrew language (no background necessary) and choose the remaining courses from a variety of subject areas. In addition to specialized tracks in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Global Health, Israel Studies, and Sustainable Development & Environment, students have the choice of taking courses in areas such as anthropology, gender/women's studies, health sciences, history, Middle Eastern studies, political science, sociology, and religious studies. Students are also eligible to take courses directly at Ben-Gurion University. There is also a month-long summer global health option available.
 

Setting Description:
Beer-Sheva is Israel's fourth largest city and was recently named by Forbes as a "New Silicon Valley in the Middle East." The city provides students with a unique juxtaposition of old world Israel, with its ancient markets, and new world Israel with the brand new Advanced Technology Park and cutting-edge research in areas such as cyber security and environmental science. Beer-Sheva is conveniently located to other major cities in the country, making travel extremely easy.
Cost:
The cost of the OSP is approximately $10,950 for the fall semester, $11,600 for the spring semester, and $17,600 for the academic year. This includes tuition, the intensive Hebrew language course, housing, student activity fee, and mandatory Israeli health insurance. It does not include airfare and food.
