Program Description:

The Hispanic & European Studies (HESP) Semester Program at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) offers courses in Spanish and English in four main areas: Catalan Studies, Hispanic Studies, European Studies, and Global Studies. Former students have rated their UPF classes so highly based on the academic rigor, the ability to take classes alongside local students, and engaging professors.

The Hispanic & European Studies Program (HESP) at the UPF has a unique focus that allows you to spend time among other students from around the world while earning a deeper understanding of all that makes Spain…Spain! Study on a beautiful modern campus while learning about local issues, political debates, and history. This program is for those who want to eat, sleep, and breathe the Spanish way of life.

Established in 1990, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) is one of Barcelona’s newest institutions has already earned an International Excellence Campus label from the Spanish Ministry of Education. The campus is full of remodeled historic buildings and sits in the heart of Barcelona just two blocks from the beach. Imagine unwinding between classes while listening to the waves of the Mediterranean Sea.

Setting Description:

The Hispanic & European Studies Program (HESP) is the core of the UPF Education Abroad Program. Created in 2002, it was designed to be one of Europe’s top programs for international students interested in a variety of topics and perspectives in the disciplines of communication, humanities, and the social sciences.
