If you have a passion for music or creative arts this Summer School is specifically designed to engage and motivate you. Set in the unique and culturally rich location of the ancient kingdom of Oriel, The Atlantic Academy of the Arts at Dundalk Institute Technology offers students a chance to engage in a range of creative arts activities focused on the music, song, film and visual media of Ireland.

Setting Description:
Dundalk is located in County Louth, “Land of Legends”, in the north-east border region of Ireland. Thought to be the birthplace of legendary Irish hero Cuchulain, Dundalk is at the heart of the historical landscape of Oriel. To the north the Mountains of Mourne and Cooley provide scenic vistas and mountain walking while Carlingford Medieval heritage town has more historical buildings than any similar sized town in Ireland. Carlingford Lough also caters for water activities and sports such as surfing, sailing and kayaking. To the south lies the culturally rich Boyne Valley and the Hill of Tara, the ancient seat of the High Kings of Ireland. In modern times Dundalk is located centrally on Ireland’s eastern seaboard cultural corridor. The town has been designated a National Gateway due to its strategic location approximately one hour by road from both Dublin and Belfast.
