Program Overview

Program Description:

Imagine a young, vibrant college town in Spain. You actually don’t have to imagine, because that’s exactly what Salamanca is! The town is as charming as it is historic, with one of the world’s oldest universities (1218 AD) centered here. In Salamanca, you’ll have the chance to experience authentic Spanish culture by speaking the language, eating the tapas, and learning to live at the Spanish pace of life. Plaza Mayor is the center of Salamanca, where both locals and visitors gather throughout the day for a meal, a meeting or both.

The Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (UPSA) is a smaller, modern, private institution with approximately 5,000 students in the heart of the city. This school is perfect for Athena students looking for quality individualized instruction. In addition, Athena’s partner ALA (a valued and trusted local presence in Spain for many years) will assist in providing you with personalized support services throughout your experience.
