Program Description:
The ACM Tanzania program is offered each fall semester, and the focus of the program is paleontology, cultural anthropology, and savannah ecology. It combines rigorous classroom instruction at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) with six weeks of field courses and fieldwork in northern Tanzania.

The program is both physically and academically challenging, and is intended for well-qualified students with strong recommendations from faculty.

The Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) is a consortium of academically excellent, independent liberal arts colleges located in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Colorado. ACM has offered a wide variety of off-campus study programs around the world for over 40 years.
Setting Description:
The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is Tanzania's premier university and the host institution of the ACM Tanzania Program. The main field site for the program is Tarangire National Park, which encompasses 1,600 square miles and is a magnet during the dry season for large concentrations of elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests and zebras, as well as a permanent residence to mongoose, giraffes, lions, hyenas and many other species.
