Experience a semester or academic year in Denmark, known as “the happiest place on Earth!” Denmark ranks very highly on global quality-of-life lists, and is known for its smiling people, beautiful coastlines, and Viking history. Though English is widely spoken and understood, you will also have the opportunity to gain new language skills and fluency in Danish. Make friends and new family members from around the world and develop skills, experience, and maturity that equip you for success in an increasingly globalized world – all while you’re still in high school!
The Aspect Foundation high school study abroad program includes placement in a Danish high school for a semester or academic year, room and board with a carefully selected host family, health and accident insurance, orientation at the start of your exchange, and roundtrip airfare.
- Setting Description:
- No matter where you are in Denmark, you are never more than 30 kilometers from the coast. Denmark has twice as many bicycles as cars! Its flat landscape and mild weather makes cycling very easy and popular. More than 50% of Danes ride bikes every day. Famous Danes include author Hans Christen Andersen, Metallica guitarist Lars Ulrich, and philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. The concept of “hygge” is very important to Danish people. It means a cozy, relaxing feel of togetherness. You’ll experience “hygge” around a warm fireplace with your host family or over a cup of tea with a new friend.
- Academic semester: $11,000, Academic year: $13,000 Some scholarships are available.
