- Program Description:
Medical assistants aid physicians in the examination and treatment of patients, in addition to performing various administrative duties. Their responsibilities may include: checking vital signs, drawing blood, obtaining medical histories, preparing patients for examination, performing basic laboratory tests, applying bandages, and sterilizing instruments. Office duties may include answering the telephone, recording and filing patient data, completing insurance forms, handling correspondence and arranging outside services.
Arizona College's medical assisting program prepares you for a career in under 7 months. In less than one year, you could enter the medical field as a professional. Our program is built to give you the skills and hands-on experience you need to succeed as a medical assistant. In addition to classroom training, every student completes a 5-week externship where they work in a real-world healthcare environment.
