Program Description:

Perform community service in the bustling capital city of Lima, Peru. Take Spanish classes in the mornings to complement your community service experience. Community service is in the afternoons at a government-sponsored youth center. The program includes cultural activities and excursions to complement the community service experience and engage more deeply into the life and culture of Lima. Travel to Inca ruins and to the striking Pacific coastline. Live with a carefully selected homestay to practice your Spanish and enjoy home-cooked Peruvian meals.

Setting Description:
Peru was the center of the Inca empire and is a country of beautiful landscapes and rich culture. It has a striking Pacific coastline teeming with marine wildlife, expansive deserts, and the towering peaks of the majestic Andean mountains. Lima is the only capital in South America that faces the sea. It is hailed as the gastronomic epicenter of Latin America culinary arts. Explore its colonial architecture, museums, and archeological sites. It's a city where historic meets modern and trends converge.

Requirements:
- Meet the age requirement of the program of choice. For most programs, the minimum age is 14 years old at the start of the program. Some programs may require a minimum age of 15. - Individuals 18 years of age may participate in the programs as long as they are in high school or have recently graduated. - Meet the physical fitness levels that some programs (Active Discovery & Wellness) have attached to them.
