International Criminal Law: In Search of Accountability; International Legal Approaches to Terrorism in the 21st Century

Participants examine critical issues in international law and spend a month in the "International City of Peace and Justice" among the practitioners, courts, and tribunals that are making history today. Integral to the program are site visits to international tribunals and legal institutions where students have the opportunity to observe proceedings and speak to practitioners in the field. The program includes a trip to Amsterdam complete with a canal and museum tour. The program schedule includes built-in free time for students to visit local cultural points of interest and to undertake more ambitious trips to other European cities.

Setting Description:
The Summer Program in The Hague offers students a unique opportunity to live and learn at the heart of the international justice community. Currently The Hague is home to more than 150 international legal organizations. Students are housed in apartments in the center of The Hague, close to the Asser Institute and a variety of prominent Dutch landmarks such as the Peace Palace.
Cost:
$11,136 for 6 credits (includes housing, health insurance, reading materials, and transportation to select program activities). $100 nonrefundable application fee. Students may also participate for a Certificate, without earning credit, at a reduced rate.
