The Geneva Summer Program offers students an in-depth look at international issues through direct contact with experts on international trade (WTO), intellectual property (WIPO), labor (ILO), and human rights/humanitarian law (UN and ICRC). This multidisciplinary program on global governance combines legal, diplomatic, and social scientific approaches to the study of multilateralism.

Participants choose from two tracks, each with two courses: the World Intellectual Property Organization:IP Law and Policy in the Multilateral System and the World Trade Organization: Rule Making and Dispute Settlement; OR International Labor Organization: Decent Work Agenda and Human Rights & International Humanitarian Law: Current Challenges.

Law students gain a comprehensive background on the formation of international law and associated norms and general principles. While taking courses in the program, participants have substantive contact with a wide variety of the most important international organizations through site visits and roundtable events. Students can expect direct contact with high officials in these organizations. The program will work to facilitate internship opportunities if requested.

Setting Description:
The program is located in Geneva, Switzerland and features site visits to the World Intellectual Property Organization, the International Labor Organization, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Office, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights.
Cost:
$7,424 for 4 credits includes housing, travel insurance, local transportation pass, and some course materials. $100 nonrefundable application fee. $500 seat deposit. Students may also participate for a Certificate, without earning credit, at a reduced rate. Participants are responsible for purchasing their airfare.
