Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The AMRCB was created to formalize the process of recognizing international excellence in medical education. It is understood that many graduates of international medical institutions desire to practice medicine in a location other than the country where they attended medical school. The scope of the AMRCB is to recognize the value of international medical training programs within the United States, although it is expected that other countries and organizations will use the AMRCB certification as a benchmark as well.
International medical school students and graduates are instructed and ultimately evaluated on multiple areas to include: professionalism, presentation skills, the ability to apply information and knowledge, attention to detail, communication skills, motivation, organization, and the ability to relate to people. The AMRCB emphasizes the concept that professional skills are the foundation of success in every organization.
It is not currently mandated that all international graduates have AMRCB certification at this time prior to entering a medical training program within the United States. It is expected that this will be required of all international graduates within the next two years. AMRCB certification will help international graduates who seek to be distinguished from the large pool of yearly applicants for internship and residency positions in the U.S., and for those who want to achieve a mark of excellence.
