Program Overview

Program Description:

Spend a semester or academic year in the charming, peaceful city of Salzburg, Austria with AIFS! You’ll earn up to 17 credits per semester through a variety of courses studying at the University of Salzburg. Courses are taught in English and German with no previous German language study required.

Live in a university residence hall, an Austrian homestay or, for an additional fee, live in a shared apartment. All students live in a single or double room shared with another AIFS student. You will receive a meal allowance to subsidize the cost of purchasing meals and groceries.

You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities such as guided tours of the city and its many sites, a Mozart dinner concert, horse-drawn sleigh rides, visits to the Austrian Christmas market, Austrian cooking classes and tours of the Werfen Castle and Hellbrunn Palace. A 3-day trip to Vienna and day trip to Innsbruck are included in the program fee.

Optional excursions include a 3-day trip to Prague, Czech Republic, and a day trip to Munich, Germany. A 2-night tour of London, England is included for students on the AIFS Flight Package.

The birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg is one of the most elegant and interesting cities in Europe. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique character and architecture, enjoy the charm of city life and the tranquility of its lush meadows, mountains and lakes.
AIFS is a premier provider of study abroad programs. Program fees cover tuition and housing, and over 50% of our study abroad participants receive financial support from AIFS in the form of scholarships or grants. A meal plan, tours and excursions, insurance, and 24-hour emergency service are also included. Coordinated AIFS Flight Packages with major airlines are also available.

Additional Program Information

Open to college freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Minimum 2.5 GPA required. Must be 18 years or older to apply.
