Program Description:

Embark on a study away program at one of the country’s most acclaimed professional theater companies—located in the heart of one of the world’s most culturally vibrant and diverse cities. Grounded in a rich academic curriculum, the San Francisco Semester brings young theater artists into an active, ongoing engagement with the eclectic and energetic arts community of San Francisco and the Bay Area.

With a focus on the practical aspects of the craft of acting and life in the professional theater, the San Francisco Semester curriculum will enhance your undergraduate study with rigorous, upper-level classes. The 15-week program features a 17-credit core curriculum, which includes coursework in acting styles, physical theater, voice/dialects, cultural landscapes, and creating original work. The curriculum will be enhanced by numerous master classes by visiting artists, as well as meetings with professional directors, playwrights, designers, stage managers, and producers.

Setting Description:
Classes take place at A.C.T.'s studios in the heart of San Francisco's theater district. Students will attend cultural outings across the city and extended Bay Area.
Cost:
Students are responsible for an application fee of $50; tuition of $15,000; housing fees of approximately $5,000–7,500 (A.C.T. will provide housing options in downtown San Francisco); a Cultural Landscapes course fee of $400; and a library fee of $25. Tuition for those applying for early bird admission is $12,500—a savings of $2,500!
