Program Description:

The Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology at the Mayaguez Center, Miami and San Juan locations of Albizu University (AU), trains students to become competent speech-language pathologists who are prepared to provide clinical services to children and adults with speech and language delays or disorders, cognitive-linguistic impairments, and/or swallowing disorders, as well to serve as consultants and clinical supervisors.

This speech pathology master’s program provides training in intervention and therapeutic techniques, as well as the tools used to assess communication and swallowing disorders. Academic learning is integrated with practicum experiences to help students acquire the necessary skills to work with populations affected by developmental delay, autism, reading and writing impairments, aphasia, dementia, voice and fluency disorders, hearing impairments, craniofacial abnormalities, neurogenic speech disorders, and articulation and phonological disorders, among others. This SLP program encourages a culturally sensitive approach throughout all its courses and clinical experiences.
