Program Overview
- Program Description:
For three weeks, explore interdisciplinary topics in Morocco's capital city of Rabat. Knowledgeable professors take students throughout the city on site visits and present guest speakers for enlightening conversations. Morocco's cultural melting pot of civilizations throughout the centuries shows that even today there are tough debates on politics, economy, religion, and society.
Academics
Students follow one course that is taught in English. Course are four credit hours.
Language, Identity and Nationalism in Contemporary Morocco
Postcolonial History of the Maghreb: Issues and Debates
Social Movements in the Middle East and North Africa
Academic support is available.
Culture
Cultural events and activities are included each week of the program. Take a day trip to Casablanca, learn how to write Arabic calligraphy, and cook an authentic Moroccon dish. Additionally, learn basic works and phrases of Darija, the Moroccan Arabic dialect that are commonly heard around town.
Housing
Students are paired with a host family in the historic center of the city known as the medina.
