- Excellent school12/11/21
Even though I only stayed for a week to brush up my Italian I feel that I have regained some of my vocabulary and got a grip on gramnar again. The teacher made the lessons very interesting by encouraging conversations betweens students. We read newspaper
articles and discussed their content snd specific grammatical features. In the second part of the lessons we listened to various pieces from radio shows to improve our listening skills. This all was complimented by homework and grammatical exercises. Francesca, the teacher, created a very lively atmosphere and managed to pay attention to all our i dividual skills/problems. I appreciated that the school had a covid-19 protocol that was followed throughout my stay (temperature measurements every day, airing classrooms, wearing masks at all times). The school’s secretary, Michela, was always approachable and organised everything from school trips, accomodation etc. All staff was very cheerful and motivated — I really enjoyed studying here and will certainly come back!

I had attended several online courses at A Door to Italy. They were great, well-structured and supplied with very good materials. Then, I took a one-week semi-intensive course in Genova. It was as excellent and educative as the online courses. I received
a very warm welcome and all support I needed. Registration has been smooth and administration office reactive and helpful since the day I contacted them for the very first time. Teachers have been professional, dynamic and attentive to the needs of the students. Upon request, they provided with additional materials. I appreciated professionalism, flexibility and a friendly atmosphere of the school.

I've spent 3 weeks in Genoa learning in 'A door to Italy' and enjoyed every minute of my stay !!! The staff is very professional and kind, the location is awesome and the methods of learning Italian are varied and interesting. The classes are small
and intimate so you have the opportunity to express yourself regularly. Staying in Genoa was a wonder by itself. I'ts a city that has many things to offer for tourists and many interesting sites are near by. The school also arranged my host family which was really nice and welcoming and gave me the opportunity to speak in Italian in the evenings. In all, it was amazing and I recommend it to anyone who loves Italy and would like to learn Italian.

This is the best school of Genova by far! I had an amazing time there and really really improved my italian. Francesca and Federica (my teachers) are best you can get and I definitely recommend them 100%. The methodology is really good, they have 2 teachers
in the morning and besides that have a lot of free activities to integrate the students. I've attend another school (that was more expensive) in Genova before that I a assure you that one is much much better. Thank you Door To Italy for making my experience and timing in Genova better! I'll come back soon to visit you.

I studied at this school for seven weeks over the summer. If I could, I would give this school 6 out of 5 stars, because in that short time, I made *enormous* progress. To give you more background about me and my program of study: I arrived with
fairly advanced knowledge of Italian, having studied it for 2 years up to that point. My goal is to be admitted to a graduate program in Italy. To reach this goal, my language abilities must reach “B2,” the level required of foreign students by Italian universities. I took the “Intensive 8” course, putting me in class about 5.5 hours a day (3.5 on Fridays). I also received approx. a half hour's worth of homework a day. The result: This school absolutely PROPELLED me to achieve my B2 goal -- and it all took place in an environment that was truly, deeply INTERESTING and FUN. To highlight what I loved most about this school: I. FANTASTIC teachers who truly CARED. They -were highly educated and experienced, well informed, very friendly, and very patient—a major plus in an instructor of language! -were highly skilled at developing a variety of different topics of conversation (political discussion included!) in order to stimulate a variety of conversations in Italian -gave excellent advice about the specifics of the language as well as great how-to-learn tips and, perhaps most importantly, -were truly attuned to my needs as a student, in terms of both language and desired outcomes. Because of one of my caring teachers, I had the opportunity to take past exams in order to get a feel for the test. II. An IMMERSIVE environment. Other languages were never spoken in classes. Since my time in the school, I have begun to understand Italian much more intuitively—an effect I noticed about 4 weeks into the program. I also use the imperfect and subjunctive tenses. III. INTERESTING readings and HELPFUL teaching materials. The textbooks the teachers drew on were excellent for developing skills in specific language areas--in fact, they were better than anything I have ever experienced in the United States. Some of our reading "exercises" came from these texts. Most came from diverse media sources on a variety of subjects. Some of these topics were specific to aspects of Italian culture; others were of a broad interest. Most important, I now read in Italian much faster than I did before. IV. Location: GENOVA. The city is gritty, yet oh-so elegant, with an active museum scene, interesting graffiti, great food, and few tourists. It was a pleasure walking through the Old Town every day on my way to school. I cannot recommend this school enough, especially for people who know they are driven to speak and understand the language. Through my experience, I feel I am bilingual now -- a dream come true for a person of my background and goals. Tantissime grazie a tutti gli insegnanti della scuola, per tutto quello fate! Senza di voi, non avrebbe potuto essere lo stesso il mio 2016!
