St. Michael's Street
Most WISC housing is in the very center of Oxford: St. Michael's Street, Beaumont Buildings, etc. Four houses are within a seven minute walk of the central area (defined as St. Anne's to the North, Magdalen College to the East, Folly Bridge to the South and the Rail Station to the West). A computer, TV and video are included in every house. Telephones are installed in every house. The more expensive housing in the very center has a surcharge but standard housing (with no surcharge) is available to every student who requests it. Every housing unit includes at least one non-American student (barring last-minute withdrawals). All students are guaranteed housing (at no extra cost) during the Winter and Spring vacation periods. Rooms in an Oxford College are sometimes available. WISC has other houses; the few listed below are typical. 10 St. Michael's Street is a sixteenth-century Tudor house (complete with exposed wooden beams) located in the very center of Oxford, just across the road from the Oxford Union Society. It has been completely remodelled on the inside and has mostly Edwardian furniture. There is one large double room available for two students. Because of its age, the rooms are small, but the location is prefect. It is very near to Trinity College and New College. Surcharge applicable. |
