Study in England at
the University of Central
Lancashire
The City of Preston
Preston is an ancient market town with a wealth of traditions
and many connections with England's past. The city is
situated halfway between London and Glasgow and is the center
of communications for northwest England. England's
northwest is made up of beautiful open countryside and
fascinating historical sties. Less than fifty miles north of
Preston is the heart of the renowned and scenic English Lake
District. Yet, the hustle and bustle of London is only three
hours away by train.
The College
The university is a single-site campus located in the center
of town within walking distance of bus and train stations. The
facilities include well-equipped buildings, mostly of modern
design. A notable exception in the center of the campus is an
early 19th century church that has been restyled as a college
and community arts center. The University of Central
Lancashire has more than 11,000 students enrolled full and
part-time. It has some of the best educational and computing
facilities in the United Kingdom. Computers are available
throughout the institution for student use. The university and
the town welcome students from many parts of the world.
Student Life
The University of Central Lancashire offers facilities for
every type of sporting and leisure activity. Students
participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor sports such as
sailing, windsurfing, and skiing. The Student Union is the
social and cultural hub of the campus and hosts special events
such as Hawaiian parties and appearances by musical groups
from around England. There is an Overseas Society that
provides advice and help for foreign students. Each exchange
student also has his or her own individual tutor who looks
after the student's academic and personal welfare.
Courses of Study
The academic options at Lancashire include courses in science
technology, combined studies, economics, accounting, business
studies, languages, art and design, journalism, music,
management science, and information technology.
