PROGRAM OF STUDY
RET 127 - Foreign Buying - 3credits
May 16 - May 26, 2008
Orientation
Prior to departure, there will be a mandatory introductory program, which covers an overview of the trip, what to expect, what to bring, preparation materials, study requirements and a question and answer period.
Day 1-2 Departure from New York and arrival in Bologna with transfer to Venice, Italy. Welcome dinner included.
Day 3 Hot buffet breakfast. Historical tour of St. Marks Square.
Day 4 Hot buffet breakfast. Private boat ride to the Islands of Murano and visit with lecture at the glass factory and Burano visit with lecture at the lace factory/school. Dinner included.
Day 5 Arrival in Florence. Historical tour of Academia Museum and "David" statue by Michangelo. Visit to lectures of Straw, Gold & Leather Market and Ferragamo Museum.
Welcome dinner included.
Day 6 Hot buffet breakfast Visit "The Mall" fashion designers outlet with lecture and video of a fashion show.
Day 7 Hot buffet breakfast. Cultural lectures.
Day 8 Hot buffet breakfast. Travel from Florence to Orvieto, Tuscany with architectural lecture upon arrival. Visit Culinary School with a meal included.
Day 9 Hot buffet breakfast. Travel to Rome. Visit the Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museum and St. Peters Cathedral. Evening walking tour of ancient Rome. See the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Novona, etc. Dinner included.
Day 10 Hot buffet breakfast. Visit the Designer Boutiques/factory with lecture (Gucci or Fendi). Visit the Elvira Gramano Boutique with a bridal fashion show. Farewell dinner included.
Day 11 Fly back to New York.

Eligibility
This is a three credit course open to students who have completed 15+ credits and completed all remedial courses prior to application. Minimum 2.5+ GPA. Prospective students must be interviewed by faculty before being admitted to the class.
Requirements
Readings, maps, folders, calculators, supplies, foreign currency, valid passport plus copy must obtained after second deposit.
Readings
There will be a 100 page handout on business operations and stores, etc., money (currency and exchange), history of art museums and cities, top culinary restaurants, maps, languages.
There will be a video to watch on proper business attire and etiquette.
Monthly educational meetings will be held.
One week prior to departure the will be a pre-departure orientation meeting. This meeting is mandatory. Students must attend the final meeting with a parent/legal guardian.
