CRIMINAL JUSTICE DEPARTMENT
CRJ 218 - International Criminal Justice Systems in London
3 credits

January 2 - January 10, 2008

Costs
Trip Includes: round trip airfare from New York to London, hotel, travel accommodations, continental breakfast daily, gala farewell reception and dinner, admissions fees and special guides, guided sightseeing excursions, tour materials, full-time tour administrators, insurance. Please be aware gratuities are not included.

Travel costs is $2780.00 per person (based on a minimum of 20 students, double occupancy). Price will be slightly higher if there is lower enrollment. Final number of approved students will determine the final price; odd numbers may cause triple occupancy. Single occupancy is available for a supplement of $1010.00

In addition, students will be enrolled in CRJ 218. Tuition and fees are additional, as follows:

Deposit of $750.00 must accompany all applications. All fees are due prior to departure.
Penalty fees will be incurred due to cancellation.
*Costs may change due to the pound sterling fluctuation.
Registration deadline October 15, 2007. Applications received after this date will be wait listed.

Final payment of trip is due by November 18, 2007.

Eligibility
This is a three credit course open to students who have completed 15+ credits, have completed all remedial courses prior to application and have a minimum 2.5+ GPA. Prospective students must be interviewed by faculty before being admitted to the class.

Notice
This field trip is under the supervision of NCC faculty. Students must comply with all rules and regulations of NCC, particularly the Student Code of Conduct. The rules of the State University of New York are also in effect. Students who do not comply with the Student Code of Conduct will be sent home at their expense.

Students should take into consideration that the format of this trip can be physically rigorous at times. Remedial and support services available on a campus can not be provided.

Any special health issues must be indicated to the Instructors at interview.

Orientation
During the fall semester, there will be an introductory program, which covers an overview of the trip, what to expect, what to bring, preparation materials, study requirements and a question and answer period.

Jan 2-3: Departure from New York and arrival in London. Afternoon sightseeing tour to introduce you to the city's most famous sites including Big Ben, Buckingham Palace. Visit to the Cabinet War Rooms.

Jan 4: Stop at the Tower of London, continue tour of city and get a birds eye panoramic view of the city. Afternoon lecture and discussion series.

Jan 5: Independent activities.

Jan 6: Half day visit to Hampton Court Palace.

Jan 7: Visit the Magistrate Court, followed by a comprehensive tour Old Bailey's. Walk through The Inns of Court and Temple Bar.

Jan 8: Evening private tour to follow the footsteps of Jack the Ripper.

Jan 9: Independent activities. Farewell dinner.

Jan 10: Return to New York.

Requirements
Valid passport, recommended immunizations, readings, folders and supplies.

Readings
Criminal Justice research will be assigned and a paper will be due by December. Prospective students will be assigned research partners.
