Overview Cultural Experiences Abroad (CEA) was founded in 1996 to provide international education opportunities for U.S. and Canadian college students of all language levels and majors. Ancient Pathways, LLC This is a 3-month residential semester program in southwest studies, native american cultures, and traditional wilderness skills. Held in northern Arizona in a region where three unique areas converge- the desert, mountains, and Grand Canyon.
Overview Highlights include visits to native american traditional lands, guest speakers on archeology, geology, mammal studies, and ethnobotany (edible plant uses). Also, a hands-on immersion into wilderness living skills, traditional outdoor cooking, desert survival and ecology, and Southwest archeology.
Setting Held in an outfitted, wilderness basecamp north of Flagstaff, Arizona overlooking the Painted Desert and 60 minutes from the Grand Canyon.
Value Available for college credit. Students will finish with a certificate of completion in traditional wilderness skills and Southwest Studies.

Columbia University, Biosphere 2 Center An intensive study in astronomy and astrophysics for college undergraduates using night sky observations under the clear desert skies at Biosphere 2's site in Oracle, Arizona. The curriculum is designed both for astronomy majors and for adventurous liberal arts majors who are interested in studying astronomy in an immersion experience. Students earn 16 credit hours from Columbia University.
Overview While the setting at Biosphere 2 provides dramatic and unique natural advantages, the curriculum bears a fair resemblance to traditional choices. This makes it easier for students and home universities to integrate our program into an overall four-year program, and assign credit appropriately.
Setting The Biosphere 2 Center campus is located in the Sonoran Desert, 30 miles north of Tucson. Study astronomy in its natural setting, under the night sky, accompanied by telescopes and other research tools which directly involve discovery by experiment and observation.
