Cultural History Tours: The Cultural History Tours are five and ten-week tours visiting Western Europe, the Mediterranean, the Iberian Peninsula or China and Tibet. All summer tour options offer courses and credit in art and history.
Curriculum Highlights: The Cultural History Tours follow an extensive travel itinerary, and class sessions are usually scheduled around or during the program activities that take up most of the day: visits to museums, monuments, cathedrals and temples, historic sites, governmental institutions, etc.
Setting Description: The Cultural History Tours offer an intense backpacking experience through multiple cities. Travel is via air, rail, ship, bus and metro. All intra-city travel is included in the program cost.
Program Value: The Cultural History Tours' unique and ongoing dialogue between students and faculty is born in response to program experiences and activities. Theater, opera, and concert performances, site entrance fees, museum tours, lodging and intra-city travel are all included in the program price.

Lisbon Study Abroad: July 2 - July 30, 2005 This innovative, four-week program in Lisbon will offer four course options: "Portugal and the European Union", "The Politics of European Integration", Portuguese Language & Culture, and a finance elective, "International Finance in a European Environment"
Curriculum Highlights: Language of instruction is English for all courses except the Portuguese language & culture courses, which are taught at the University of Lisbon. All other courses are taught by UMD and ISEG faculty. Guest lectures and multiple field trips illustrating the impact of EU integration are programmed.
Setting Description: Students are lodged in the Residencial Capital, located in downtown Lisbon, only steps from the Metro and in the heart of one of Lisbon's major shopping districts. Rooms are double occupancy, though single-occupancy is available for a supplement. Private baths, cable tv, and a/c in rooms.
Program Value: Students can earn up to 9 credits at the graduate or undergraduate levels. Field trips offer memorable visits to Coimbra, Alentejo, the Setubal Peninsula, and numerous sites in and around Lisbon.
