Arabic Language and North African Studies: Perfect for the novice who wants an introduction to the Arabic language, culture, and North African studies in the safe, and extremely hospitable country of Morocco. Advanced/graduate students also enjoy an environment conducive to intense study and research.
Curriculum Highlights: Students studying Arabic use textbooks and have 2 weekend trips with their professors to put their language to use at whatever the level of proficiency. Academic classes cover topics on North Africa that are not taught anywhere else.
Setting Description: Ifrane is a resort town set up in the Middle Atlas Mountains that is cool and green in summer and is one hour from the two imperial cities of Meknes and Fes. Summer program in Morocco: The College of Charleston Summer in Tangier, Morocco is designed to give students an opportunity to live, study and explore the languages and cultures of Morocco.

Setting Description: The Kingdom of Morocco is arguably the southern most European, western most Islamic and the northen most African country.

Morocco: Intensive Arabic Language and Moraccan Culture: Given recent world events, interest in Arabic language study has grown tremendously. SIT, one of only a few schools to offer study abroad programs in Arabic-speaking countries, now offers a new summer program in Morocco. This program offers intensive Modern Standard Arabic (Fus'ha) and an introduction to Moroccan culture and Moroccan Arabic (Darija) through cultural and linguistic immersion. Language classes are run in conjunction with the Center for Cross-Cultural Learning in Rabat. Located in a nineteenth-century Andalusian home in the old Medina of Rabat, the Center hosts educational programs and organizes other cultural events, such as artistic shows and performances, for local communities.

Study Abroad with the SUNY System: State University of New York currently offers 291 overseas study programs in over 51 different countries: in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and New Zealand. These programs range from 2-3 week intensive courses to an entire semester or academic year abroad. Courses are available in over 100 subjects, ranging alphabetically from aboriginal studies and aerospace engineering to western philosophy and women's studies. While many programs focus on language learning and are conducted in the language of the host country, many others are conducted wholly or partly in English.
Curriculum Highlights: State University overseas study programs are, with some exceptions, open to all SUNY and non-SUNY students, with eligibility ranging from first year to graduate level. For many undergraduates, the best time to study abroad has traditionally been during the junior year; however, well-prepared sophomores, and, in a few cases, freshmen are eligible for some pro grams. For everyone, careful preparation and consultation with the campus Director of International Education are essential for determining where and when to go.

Arizona in Morocco: This program focuses on understanding contemporary Moroccan society and culture, as well as providing an opportunity to take intensive Moroccan colloquial Arabic, intensive Berber language, or Francophone literature in French.
Curriculum Highlights: Four 3-day excursions are included with the program, tentatively one to Marrakesh, one to Volubilis and Fez, one to the south, such as the Ziz valley, and one to the Rif in the north, such as Tangier and Chefchaouen.
