American University Washington College of Law: This ABA-approved program offers two courses: Legal Aspects of Trade and Investment in Latin America, a survey course exploring the various legal issues in international trade and foreign direct investment, and Comparative Legal Perspectives on Social Problems, which addresses legal issues related to human rights, the environment, the family, and the role of legal institutions in transitions to democracy.
Curriculum Highlights: Each class session is taught in English by distinguished Chilean law professors or practitioners, thereby providing unique perspectives on the issues being addressed. The program is supervised by two members of the Washington College of Law faculty.
Setting Description: Students are housed in comfortable two-bedroom apartments in Santiago complete with full kitchens and convenient to both universities, restaurants, and shopping. The program includes excursions to Vina del Mar and Valparaiso to visit Congress, and a weekend of skiing in Valle Nevado.
Program Value: This program offers two 3-credit courses. Externships are also available and are arranged on an individual basis

Chile Summer Abroad Law Program: Learn law in Latin America while exploring two of the most exciting countries in South America: Chile and Argentina. The program will cover the most important legal institutions and recent political history of the region.
Curriculum Highlights: The program offers a balanced mix of classroom lectures and site visits. At no additional cost the program includes a ski weekend in the Andes Mountains, a trip to the beach port of Valparaiso, a week in Buenos Aires where the last classes and exams will be held and networking events with attorneys.
Setting Description: Hosuing is provided in comfortable two bedroom two bathroom apartments. It includes breakfast, daily cleaning service and DSL internet connection in Santiago.

Spanish, Culture and Society, Politics and Society: Travel to Chile and study Spanish under the direction of two UM professors. Now in its third year, this program will begin with three weeks in Santiago, followed by four weeks in the coastal city of Valparaiso at the Universidad de Playa Ancha.
Curriculum Highlights: The program offers the course INS 302 (INS 550) taught by Dr. Aguero and courses SPA 211 and SPA 322 taught by Dr. Manzor. An internship component, LAS 505, is also an option.
Setting Description: Students will live in a residence in nearby Vi–as del Mar for the four weeks in Valparaiso.
Program Value: Travel to Chile and study Spanish. Students may complete the foreign language requirement with SPA 211.
