Curriculum Highlights: This immersion program has an integrated curriculum, providing students with the chance to learn much more than just the fundamentals of German grammar. We teach students how to integrate into German society, and how to interact with German people in both casual and formal situations. By combining our language lessons with the study of German culture and traditions, students are immersed in the German way of life.
Setting Description: Programs are held at the Academy of German Language in Heidelberg, a member of Fachverband Deutsch als Fremsprache (FaDaf) and International Certificate Conference (ICC). The Academy is also an official examination center for the European Language Certificates (TELC). Conveniently located in the heart of Heidelberg, the Academy is just 2 minutes walk from the main bus and tram stop, Bismarckplatz.

German Language and Culture: Hessen International Summer University at Philipps University is designed to give students an intensive introduction to German language, culture and politics. The program is ideal for students who need to improve their German skills before undertaking a semester's study in Germany.
Curriculum Highlights: ISU offers courses in both German and English with a theme-based program focusing on a specific topic. Students even have the option to take some of the courses in English and some in German.
Setting Description: Marburg, which suffered relatively little damage from bombing during WWII, is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Germany. With a population of only 80,000, it offers the friedliness and convenience of a small city, as well as the cultural advantages of a university town.
Program Value: German language courses are offered at three levels to accommodate everyone - from beginners to those who have achieved fluency in the language.

Heidelberg Summer Program in German Language and German Studies: Studying in Heidelberg, home of Germany's oldest university, you will become more independent and self-reliant. You have full use of the Heidelberg at Heidelberg study center in the heart of the Altstadt (with claslsrooms, internet access, library, tv room); Heidelberg at Heidelberg faculty and staff help you make many new friends and insure that your summer school is unforgettable – both academicly and personally.
Curriculum Highlights: The focus is on experiential learning outside of the classroom as well as inside. For students at the intermediate or advanced level, 6-credit intensive language courses and a cultural encounters course will boost your German proficiency rapidly. In addition, choose up to two 1-credit mini courses: The Berlin seminar, German Cultural Sampler, or Germany and the European Union. All courses are taught in German by native speaker faculty.
Setting Description: Located on the Neckar River in southwest Germany under the backdrop of a medieval castle, Heidelberg is one of Germany's most beautiful cities. It is also the classic German student city--bustling with a wide range of cultural activities such as theater, dance and music and featuring all types of shops, student pubs and sports facilities.
Program Value: All coursework, health insurance, room and board, a public transportation pass, and an official transcript are included in the program fee. Numerous study trips and excursions--including a 4-day study trip to Berlin—are also included. In addition, students are provided with a GermanRail pass for individual weekend travel. You live with host families and are matched with a language partner from the University of Heidelberg, providing you with a total immersion experience.
