Overview The Russian Area Studies program aims to help students gain a greater understanding of Russian history and culture combined with intensive Russian language instruction.
Setting Founded in the 18th century, St. Petersburg State University is one of Russia's leading institutions of higher learning. State University of New York (SUNY) The State University of New York (SUNY) currently offers more than 400 overseas study programs in more than 50 countries: in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Programs range from 2-3 week intensive courses to a semester or academic year abroad. Courses are available in more than 100 subjects, ranging alphabetically from aboriginal studies and aerospace engineering to western philosophy and women's studies. The school year runs from September through May, with three short vacations between the terms. June is reserved for examinations. Setting Settings - Low Temperatures Students who study by contract live in a hostel for contract students. The hostel consists of 2-room blocks (12 sq.m. and 18 sq.m.). Big room is 3-bed room for first and second year students and 2-bed room for senior students, small room is 2-bed room. There are a bathroom and a toilet in each block. The common kitchen is situated in the corridor.
