Value The student workload per semester is expressed in credits. In general terms, one credit is equivalent to one hour of class per week. You may take between 12 and 24 UP credits in one semester (a minimum of 3 up to a maximum of 6 courses per semester).

Overview Our spring quarter program spends two weeks in each of four remarkable areas allowing a thorough exploration of distinct threatened ecosystems of global significance and their human communities. We take a case study approach exploring a cutting edge environmental issue in each area. You will simultaneously be studying in three courses: (1)Field Biology of Peru; (2) Field Geology of Peru; and (3) Environmental Science, Ethics and Public Policy of Peru. The course includes instruction in introductory Spanish.
Setting By studying the physical and biological diversity of Peru you will gain a solid foundation upon which to consider environmental science, ethics and public policy. Our faculty have extensive experience conducting research, teaching, running government ministries, intergovernmental programs and non-government organizations.
