Setting The University of Amsterdam (UvA) dates from Amsterdam's heyday in the 17th century when the city was one of the world's most important ports and trading centers. The Athenaeum Illustre, which later became the University of Amsterdam, was founded in 1632. State University of New York (SUNY) The State University of New York (SUNY) currently offers more than 400 overseas study programs in more than 50 countries: in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Programs range from 2-3 week intensive courses to a semester or academic year abroad. Courses are available in more than 100 subjects, ranging alphabetically from aboriginal studies and aerospace engineering to western philosophy and women's studies. While many programs focus on language learning and are conducted in the language of the host country, many others are conducted wholly or partly in English.
Overview The State University of New York overseas study programs are, with some exceptions, open to all SUNY and non-SUNY students, with eligibility ranging from first year to graduate level. For many undergraduates, the best time to study abroad has traditionally been during the junior year; however, well-prepared sophomores, and occasionally freshmen, are eligible for some programs. Study abroad students pay SUNY tuition (in-state or out-of-state, depending upon New York State residency) plus costs, which vary from program to program. Matriculated students at a State University of New York campus register on their home campus for programs offered at any other campus. Technical University of Eindhoven The Master of Science program (two year curriculum, 120 ECTS credits) Sustainable Energy Technology anticipates the growing social demand for sustainable development. To reach sustainable development, the use and generation of energy should be as efficient and clean as possible and renewable energy sources should be used more often.
Overview System thinking but also physical transport phenomena, electric power engineering, technology for sustainable development, design and system integration and renewable energy sources are tought in the introductory program of 17 ECTS credits. Application of the knowledge is done in project work and the graduation project (50 ECTS credits) which can be in the following topics: biomass reactor, solar cells, wind energy, microreactors as fuel cells (hydrogen), intelligent electricity networks, energy policy and consumer behaviour.
