Boston University Division of International Programs Boston University's new program in Burgos offers students the opportunity to enroll directly in the University of Burgos (UBU), a modern university centered in a medieval complex of buildings that was once part of the Camino de Santiago. The program will provide an excellent opportunity for students who prefer to live and study in a smaller city where there are very few Americans and very little English spoken.
Overview Burgos students will enroll in an intensive language and cultural immersion course before the regular university semester begins. Once students complete this course they will enroll in courses offered by other UBU departments, including Humanities, Business Administration, Economics and Science. Upon completion of the program, students earn a minimum of 16 Boston University credits.
Setting Boston University has an office located at the UBU, where there will be a BU staff member available on a permanent basis supervising day to day life in Burgos. In addition, Boston University's Madrid office staff will come to Burgos on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to meet with students. The Office of International Relations at UBU will help students with academic and administrative questions and other guidance on a daily basis. Students will share double rooms with Spanish students in UBU's modern residence halls. The dorms are equipped with study areas and dining halls in which students can take all their meals.

Programs range from 2-3 week intensive courses to a semester or academic year abroad. Courses are available in more than 100 subjects, ranging alphabetically from aboriginal studies and aerospace engineering to western philosophy and women's studies. While many programs focus on language learning and are conducted in the language of the host country, many others are conducted wholly or partly in English.
Overview The State University of New York overseas study programs are, with some exceptions, open to all SUNY and non-SUNY students, with eligibility ranging from first year to graduate level. For many undergraduates, the best time to study abroad has traditionally been during the junior year; however, well-prepared sophomores, and occasionally freshmen, are eligible for some programs. AmeriSpan This program is ideal for people who want to add an element of cultural flair to their immersion program by taking part in learning the traditional Flamenco dance of Spain. The students in addition to having standard Spanish classes, will also spend 8 hours/week at the language school studying with top Flamenco dance instructors. In the beginning of the course, about 15% of the time is spent the studying origins and history of Flamenco.

BCA (Brethren Colleges Abroad) At BCA Barcelona, students are immersed in the language and culture of one of Europe's most beautiful Mediterranean cities. BCA students study at one of the most highly regarded universities in Spain, choosing special BCA courses or taking classes alongside Spanish students.
Overview As part of the program, BCA runs a three-week orientation. During the orientation, BCA's on-site director leads a several day study tour to cities such as Gerona, Fiqueres, Cordoba, Granada and Sevilla.
Setting With a population of 1.5 million, Barcelona is a bustling city spilling over with activity. Students will find fabulous architecture, gorgeous beaches and all the cafes, museums and galleries you could ask for.

Binghamton University (SUNY) Binghamton University offers two summer study abroad programs in Spain: a four week program in Madrid and a six week program, with the first two weeks in Malaga and the remaining four in Madrid.
Overview The broad purposes of the program is to provide intensive Spanish language instruction at all levels from beginning through advanced, immersion in Spanish culture, and advanced courses in literature and history. There are also two seminar courses in literature offered for graduate students.
Setting Madrid is located in the center of the peninsula. With a population of around 4 million, the sophisticated cosmopolitan city includes monumental palaces, churches, and several museums and fountains. Famous for its nightlife, visitors will find plenty to do.

Binghamton University (SUNY) Binghamton University offers a summer study abroad program in Madrid. The broad purposes of the program are to provide intensive Spanish language instruction at all levels from beginning through advanced, immersion in Spanish culture and advanced courses in literature and history.
Overview There are two seminar courses in literature offered for graduate students. The program culminates with a weekend in Paris. Each course consists of 15 sessions for 3 hours for a total of 45 contact hours.

Center for Cross Cultural Study The Center for Cross-Cultural Study offers foreign study opportunities in Seville, Spain: Upper Division Spanish for advanced level students or Intensive immersion for intermediate level students.
Overview In one semester the Center offers a complete one-year course in intermediate college Spanish, focusing on Spanish civilization, literature, and current events. If you have completed beginning Spanish or the equivalent, you can "live" Spanish in Seville while you study intermediate Spanish and the Spanish culture at the Center. Fall semester Intensive Intermediate students who wish to continue in the spring semester Upper-Division Spanish Studies Program may be required to take Spanish301J in January Term.
Setting Seville is a beautiful and ancient city on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville has a temperate climate and a rich cultural life.Qualified students on semester and year programs at the Center for Cross-Cultural Study (CC-CS) may elect to take a course at the University of Seville, choosing from the offerings of the more than fifteen schools, or facultades.

Center for Cross Cultural Study The CC-CS January Term offers intensive language work at both the intermediate and advanced levels. This 3 1/2 week term is designed to be taken on its own or as preparation for the Spring Semester Program. It is ideal for students who have been away from the study of Spanish for some time, or want additional language preparation before entering the Intensive Intermediate or Upper Division Programs.
Overview The January Term may be taken on its own or in conjunction with the semester and academic year programs. The January Term is strongly recommended as an optional head start to the Spring semester. All classes are taught in Spanish by native professors. The CC-CS curriculum emphasizes intensive immersion with a focus on oral proficiency and writing across the curriculum.
Setting Your academic experience takes place in two adjoining mansions comprising 35+ rooms, 5 patios, a sundeck and four computer labs. CC-CS is located in the heart of Seville, only a short walk from the University of Seville and some of Spain's most glorious and historic sites. Seville is also a short distance to Costa del Sol and its sunny beaches.
