Boston University Division of International Programs This program is designed for students who want to enroll directly in a German university, and who want to take a wide range of university courses. The Technische Universitat Dresden (TUD) is in one of Eastern Germany's most culturally rich cities. This program is taught by German faculty.
Overview During the first seven weeks of the program (prior to the start of the TUD semester), students enroll in a 112-hour, intensive language and cultural immerson course. Students then enroll in three elective courses at the TUD and finish the semester as regular students of the University.
Value Per semester costs includes tuition, room and board, excursions, round-trip airfare, on-site orientation, and pre-approved or selected limited cultural reimbursements. Financial aid is available.

Overview The Intensive German Language Program is offered at all levels by highly trained, qualified, university-educated native speakers of German. State University of New York (SUNY) The State University of New York (SUNY) currently offers more than 400 overseas study programs in more than 50 countries: in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Programs range from 2-3 week intensive courses to a semester or academic year abroad. Courses are available in more than 100 subjects, ranging alphabetically from aboriginal studies and aerospace engineering to western philosophy and women's studies. While many programs focus on language learning and are conducted in the language of the host country, many others are conducted wholly or partly in English.
Overview The State University of New York overseas study programs are, with some exceptions, open to all SUNY and non-SUNY students, with eligibility ranging from first year to graduate level. For many undergraduates, the best time to study abroad has traditionally been during the junior year; however, well-prepared sophomores, and occasionally freshmen, are eligible for some programs. For everyone, careful preparation and consultation with the campus Director of International Education are essential for determining where and when to go. Program costs are usually only slightly higher than on-campus costs of tuition, room and board (exclusive of international air fare) and in some countries expenses are actually less than they would be on campus. Study abroad students pay SUNY tuition (in-state or out-of-state, depending upon New York State residency) plus costs, which vary from program to program. Matriculated students at a State University of New York campus register on their home campus for programs offered at any other campus. They are thus able to maintain residency and eligibility for financial aid. (NOTE: Upper-division students registering at community colleges for overseas programs should consult with their registrar's office about appropriate credit.)

Temple University, International Programs This is a four-week program of intensive German language instruction for students who have had at least one semester of German, but are not yet at the advanced level. The program is based at the Herder Institute of the University of Leipzig in Saxony. Included will be tours and overnight excursions, as well as intensive instruction leading to four credits.
Overview During the first week of the program students will participate in an orientation that will familiarize them with the university and the city. The following three weeks will consist of intensive language study and excursions outside of the city.

Goethe-Institut Düsseldor Learn German in Düsseldorf, one of the most pulsating university cities in Germany. From 2002 on, German courses of four, eight, or twelve weeks duration begin every four weeks. Twelve weeks corresponds to the length of a normal tourist visa. Following any one-month period, there is a break lasting several days, during which you have the option of taking the Goethe-Institut examinations, which have gained worldwide recognition. Based on the course participants' newly acquired language skills, new classes are established every four weeks. The breaks between the courses can be used for trips to nearby European or German cities.

Overview The program offers courses in Advanced German Culture and Language specifically designed to explore the rich cultural heritage of Munich and the homestay with families in a neighboring village. Northern Arizona University The Hochschule Zittau G rlitz evolved out of a number of higher educational institutions in the towns of Zittau and Goerlitz. It was particularly the programs in mechanical engineering and computer science that drew upon traditions dating back over more than 150 years.
Overview This program offers intensive language learning courses (in the Studienkolleg) for varying skill levels. You must have completed at least one year of college level German to be eligible. TTU Center Texas Tech University's Center at Quedlinburg offers students the chance to complete a two-year language course of study in one semester. Courses are taught by TTU faculty. Two semesters of university course work is required prior to attending.
Overview In the first half of the semester students complete the equivalent of two semesters of Beginning German, then progress on to the second year of instruction in the second half. Students having prior German experience can be accommodated as well.
Setting The Texas Tech Center is housed in a three-story half-timbered mansion built in 1576 in the UNESCO world heritage cultural site of Quedlinburg, Germany. Students have wireless internet and computer access, and live with host families.

University of Kansas Intermediate intensive language and culture program for the summer in Eutin. Students enroll in three 3-credit hour classes appropriate to their skill level for a total of nine hours of credit. The language of instruction for all classes is German.
