Setting The training center in Manuel Antonio is uniquely situated overlooking the beach of a national park. Universidad San Francisco de Quito-Summer Archaeology Field School Students of USFQ's Summer Archaeology Field School will acquire first-hand experience in archaeological investigation. They will actively participate in surveying, mapping, excavations and lab analysis while accompanied by an experienced team of archaeologists.
Overview Students receive a combination of theoretical and methodological training, in addition to fieldwork, in one of the most archaeologically rich areas of Ecuador. During weekends, students will visit many sites and areas of interest along the Ecuadorian Pacific coast.
Setting The field school takes place in the southern province of Manab , Ecuador, in an area both in and immediatly surrounding Machalilla National Park. The region is known for its very early cultural development and is rich in archaeological remains.
