Setting Unique among U.S. institutions in Paris, the CIEE Study Center at the Paris Center for Critical Studies, founded in 1973, offers courses in contemporary film, literature, philosophy, aesthetics, and critical theory taught by well-known specialists and university professors. Located on Paris’ Right Bank, in the 8th arrondissement between the Arc de Triomphe and Paris’ grand boulevards, the Center occupies one floor of a beautiful Haussmann-style building. Setting The University of Haute Bretagne (UHB) is divided into two campuses: Rennes I (the science division) and Rennes II (the humanities division). Qualified students select four upper-level academic courses from offerings in the Facult des Langues, Lettres et Communication (Universit Stendhal), the Facult Des Sciences Sociales (Universit Pierre Mend s), the CUEF, or a combination thereof. Students choose from a variety of subjects such as art history, French literature, cinema, economics, political science, international relations, psychology, and more. In addition, all Level II students take a semester-long, advanced four-credit course, Travaux Pratiques, in written and oral French through the CUEF, and for which they complete ethnographic research projects.

Painting and drawing, study in museums and reading/writing assignments encourage students to explore the correspondences between natural and artistic forms.

Overview Students take French Language and Culture courses at the University of Paris IV (Sorbonne). The program is suitable for students with some French language proficiency in order to ensure a successful immersion experience.

IES - Institute for the International Education of Students The IES Dijon program is designed for students who wish to study business and management in an international setting. IES courses are taught by faculty from teh Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Dijon (ESCD), a highly selective institution of 1,000 business students.
Overview Academic internships are available in small local businesses as well as in large international companies. IES Dijon also offers a special field research program designed for students who do not have an advanced level of French but are interested in gaining insight into the operations of a local organization through an in-depth research project.

State University of New York College at Brockport (SUNY) This program is designed to provide a study of the French language and phonetics for all students regardless of major or language background. Advanced courses are available for French majors. Institute provides instruction in French at six levels, which range from the beginner's level to advanced courses for teachers of French. Every participant must take the placement exam given on the first day of the term. Housing in homestays.
Setting Tours is a busy provincial capital in a region of France with one of the most perfect climates in Europe, and in which the "most perfect" French is spoken. Paris is only one hundred fifty kilometers from Tours (one hour by train).

SUNY at New Paltz Students study French in one of the top language schools in France, the Center for Applied Linguistics, part of the Universite de Franche-Comte. Besan on is unique in that it has few residents who speak English, thus providing an optimal learning environment for students wishing to perfect their French language skills. Besan on has a rich political and cultural history - as evidenced by its charm and varied architectural styles - and a modern, vibrant aura as the center of France's microelectronics industry. The beautiful Doubs River, the surrounding picturesque villages, and the numerous music and film festivals make this one of the true cultural meccas of France. The program includes field trips, sometimes to Paris and Southern France.
Overview Based on the placement exam results, students will placed in one of the four levels in the Etudes Fran aises Langue, Culture et Soci t in the Centre de Linguistique Appliqu e de Besan on. Students typically earn 14-17 credits each semester, depending on placement level. Setting Besan on is unique in that it has very few native English speakers, thus providing an optimal environment for students wishing to improve or perfect their French language skills. In 1990, Besan on was designated the number one city in France for its quality of life. Approximately three hours from Paris and two and a half from Geneva by express train, Besan on is one of the smaller crossroads in the heart of Europe.Besan on is a "manageable" city, one that students can quickly get to know and feel at home in. The people are quite friendly and usually very appreciative of a foreign student's efforts to communicate in French. The Doubs River loops around the old part of the city, endowing it with considerable charm and character. Besan on has a rich political and cultural history, which is reflected in its many places of interest and its varied architectural styles. As a cultural center of the state of Franche-Comt , and the center of France's microelectronics industry, Besan on is a modern and vibrant city. France Summer Programs Students desiring to study in France this summer have two unique programs to choose from. Programs are varied and include studies in Human Rights and also in Engineering.
Human Rights and Conflict Resolution in Europe: Legal and Political Perspectivies Students learn how the European Court of Human Rights deals with social and political issues, such as marriage, divorce,abortions, torture, fair trial, homosexuality and obscenity.
Engineering Programs in Strasbourg and MadridIndependent Study Projects in the engineering laboratories of technical universities in Madrid and Strasbourg are arranged both for engineering students with no prior knowledge of the host country language and those with some language proficiency. Students can enroll in language courses at the Madrid and Strasbourg DIPA centers. The projects can be taken for technical elective credits.
Engineering Research Projects in StrasbourgStudents in all major areas of engineering who are looking for international experience during the summer can earn three credits for research projects carried out at the Institut National des Sciences Appliques (INSA).
