Arizona In China The University of Arizona in collaborating with Nanjing University of Technology in Nanjing, China to provide American college students with a unique study abroad experience. The focus of this program is to impart American and Chinese students with an in-depth understanding of each other’s culture, society, economy, government, and language.
Overview Archaeology and history students will participate in excavations of Chinese artifacts. Political Science students will learn from Chinese and American diplomats who negotiate some of the most important regional and national issues.
Setting Nanjing is one of China's wealthiest and most economically developed cities. Nanjing is also one of China's six ancient cities and traces its history back 6000 years.
Value Yangtze International's professors will bring the resources of China to class. Students earn credits through the University of Arizona and/or Nanjing University of Technology to be transferred to their home university. Most courses are taught in English by University of Arizona faculty.

Overview The goals of the CIEE Study Center in Nanjing are to increase students' language proficiency and cross-cultural competency through close interaction with community life in Nanjing. These goals are achieved through living with a Chinese roommate or host family, taking a unique area studies course together with Chinese students, interviewing local Chinese for an oral history project, participating in weekly field trips and the one-week module in Sichuan Province and using program breaks for additional travel within China.

Setting One of the top five institutions in China, Nanjing University is known for its liberal arts and social science disciplines. It has developed into a research institution in many areas including Chinese studies and teaching Chinese to foreign students. The university, with 20,000 undergraduate students, is centrally located in downtown Nanjing. The campus includes a large library, dormitories, extensive playing fields, various shops and restaurants and gardens. The neighborhood surrounding Nanjing University caters to students and is lined with restaurants, shops and a local post office.

Institute for Shipboard Education - Semester at Sea Administered by the nonprofit Institute for Shipboard Education, Semester at Sea® is a program that takes approximately 600 students--from colleges and universities across the United States and abroad--around the world each fall, spring and summer semester. Overview Since 1963, over 45,000 students have studied and traveled to 60 countries around the world during fall and spring semesters through this program. A regional 65-day summer program also takes students to countries in the Pacific Rim, Latin America or Europe and the Mediterranean.
Setting Semester at Sea offers two voyages each year that circumnavigate the earth, and one that is more regional in focus. The fall terms typically begin in Ensenada, Mexico, and end in Ft. State University of New York (SUNY) The State University of New York (SUNY) currently offers more than 400 overseas study programs in more than 50 countries: in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Programs range from 2-3 week intensive courses to a semester or academic year abroad. Courses are available in more than 100 subjects, ranging alphabetically from aboriginal studies and aerospace engineering to western philosophy and women's studies. While many programs focus on language learning and are conducted in the language of the host country, many others are conducted wholly or partly in English.
Overview The State University of New York overseas study programs are, with some exceptions, open to all SUNY and non-SUNY students, with eligibility ranging from first year to graduate level. For many undergraduates, the best time to study abroad has traditionally been during the junior year; however, well-prepared sophomores, and occasionally freshmen, are eligible for some programs. Setting Study abroad can be one of the most rewarding and exciting experiences in a college student's career. Program costs are usually only slightly higher than on-campus costs of tuition, room and board (exclusive of international air fare) and in some countries expenses are actually less than they would be on campus. Study abroad students pay SUNY tuition (in-state or out-of-state, depending upon New York State residency) plus costs, which vary from program to program. Matriculated students at a State University of New York campus register on their home campus for programs offered at any other campus. They are thus able to maintain residency and eligibility for financial aid. State University of New York College at Brockport (SUNY) This program is jointly sponsored by SUNY Brockport's Office of International Education and EducAsian. The goal of this program is to provide students from US colleges and universities the opportunity to study Chinese language, history, arts, culture, recent economic developments and social trends.
Overview Participants will study Chinese language, culture, history, art, economics, management, and finance in modern China. Participants have the option of choosing a business internship placement for the second half of the 15 week semester in place of course work.
Setting Internships are available in journalism, finance, education, environment, investment, entertainment, management and hospitality. The program takes the student through a dynamic combination of formal classroom instruction, guided excursions and travel in three of China's most dynamic cities.
Value Upon arrival in China a language assessment test will be given to assure accurate placement. No previous experience in the Chinese language is required, but it is recommended. Eighteen undergraduate credits.

CET Academic Programs The Harbin program requires a minimum of two years of intensive Chinese for admittance. The Hangzhou summer program requires a minimum of three semesters of college level Chinese or the equivalent for admittance. The Beijing programs have no language requirement.

China: Public Health and Traditional Chinese Medicine Based in the city of Kunming in Yunnan Province, China, and run in conjunction with the Yunnan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this program provides an introduction to the ancient philosophy, theory, history, and practices in traditional Chinese medicine, one of the world's oldest, best-known, and most-developed medicinal systems, placing it in the social context of public health in China.

Setting Established in 1951, East China Normal University is one of China's key institutions of higher learning and is best known for its liberal arts and sciences programs. It enrolls more than 11,000 undergraduate students. The university is located on the bank of the Liwa River in the northwest area of the city near the Zhongshan light rail station. The East China Normal University campus is large and has excellent facilities, including a large library, classroom and administrative buildings, dormitories, extensive playing fields and various small shops and restaurants.

International Honors Program A small group of students and faculty will travel to New York, USA; Curitiba/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Cape Town, South Africa; and Auckland, New Zealand to explore issues related to urban planning. Study in traditional settings is complemented by on-site comparisons of policy and social movements. Students will earn 16 credits over the semester.
Overview This program combines an innovative urban studies curriculum with fieldwork involving public agencies, planners, elected officials, public/private partnerships, NGOs and grassroots groups. Students will learn how to read a city with leadership from faculty and from their own on-site observations.
Setting Students and faculty will travel to 3 countries and numerous cities while engaged in an interdisciplinary, comparative study of urban social, political, economic and environmental issues. Students are hosted by families to ensure exposure to each country's people and culture.

New York University, Tisch School of the Arts Our semester program with the Shanghai Theatre Academy offers students the opportunity to study Chinese opera training, including singing, speaking, gesturing. and fighting. Pacific Village Institute Open to high school seniors, gap year students and college undergraduates, PVI's semester program in China and Tibet (Beijing, Sichuan, Tibet and Shanghai) focuses on language learning, homestays, community service and independent study projects (ISPs). ISPs can include such topics as art, spiritual traditions, intensive language, Chinese medicine, etc.
Overview China provides a vast canvas for students to learn about the largest human population on Earth, a civilization’s extraordinary 5,000-year history and culture, the world's most rapidly transforming economy, and the global epicenter of environmental change. In addition, by studying and traveling through Tibet, students will explore the diverse landscapes of Tibetan culture, its history and its current status in China.
Setting Beijing-Sichuan-Tibet-Shanghai. We begin in Beijing where we explore monuments of China's ancient and modern history and meet with journalists, students, professionals, and representatives of international NGO's. From there we will travel through diverse regions of China to our program base in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, where we will study Chinese language, engage in Independent Study Projects and become a part of the local community. We will then take off on a two-week excursion into Tibet and conclude our program in booming Shanghai.
Value Students live with local families, and will engage in service projects. Each Student designs and pursues an Independent Study Project involving direct collaboration with experts and exploring themes such as: China-Tibet relations, spiritual traditions, art, business or martial arts. School for International Training This unique transnational program, based in India, Nepal, and (conditions permitting) the Autonomous Region of Tibet, offers an ideal setting in which to study traditional Tibetan culture and religion.
