University of Tartu Semester Programs Enhance your education with a semester or an academic year in Estonia, the most dynamic new EU member state! University of Tartu offers studies in English in various subjects for Bachelor and Master level students. Founded in 1632, UT has 19000 students and is famous for research-based education, lively student traditions and University town atmosphere, with students making 30% of the population.
Overview Choose one of the semester programs: Baltic Studies, Transition Studies, Law, Journalism; or build your own semester program and take courses in social sciences, economics, humanities, math, computer science, philology, regional studies, law, biomedicine, Estonian and Russian languages. Earn academic credit and explore Estonia, Northern Europe and Russia!
Setting Estonia offers a unique perspective on the successful transition to democracy and recent accession to the EU. Tartu is Estonia s second largest city, 2.5 hours from the airport and sea port of Tallinn, with connections to major cities in Europe and Russia. English is spoken widely here and living costs are lower than in most EU countries.
Value Fees vary by faculty (600-1600 EUR/semster) and usually cover tuition, course materials and a tutor to assist international students with practical issues like course registration and getting around. Housing and meals are extra (250-350 EUR/month). Students are accommodated in modern dorms. Some programs offer study trips.

EuroCollege, University of Tartu The program focuses on transition in a broad sense, comparing and contrasting transition goals and dynamics in Central and Eastern Europe, the European Union, and Russia.
Overview The program offers guided study trips to Russia (St Petersburg, Novgorod, Pskov, Pechory) and a tours in Estonia Tallinn (Estonian governmental institutions) and Narva (ethnic issues in Estonia).

Setting Estonia is a perfect place to start exploring the region on your own. A well-developed travel infrastructure and convenient bus, train and ferry connections make it easy to arrange individual trips to the neighboring Scandinavian capitals, the other Baltic countries, and Central and Eastern Europe.
Value The program is interdisciplinary, using the perspectives of the social sciences, economics and law to analyze the region's quest for prosperity, security and identity.
