AUSTRALIA: Coach Soccer Down Under in Perth with TRAVELLERS WORLDWIDE
Contact:

You'll work with a football club in the beautiful city of Perth, coaching the boys and girls junior teams in the afternoons. In the evenings you'll be able to train with the adults teams and possibly even play with the teams on the weekends, if you get selected. On this project we work with a number of football clubs, so if you play at a semi professional standard, you'll have the opportunity to play for a semi professional team. If you are a social player, you'll be able to play social football at one of the clubs. As the main football project won't occupy all your time, during the daytime you'll work on the Refugee Sports Project. Here you can coach football and/or a number of other sports for around 4-5 hours every day, leaving your evenings free to coach and train with the cricket team.

You'll work with an organisation that is dedicated to conserving Australia's threatened wildlife and ecosystems - it's an immensely worthwhile project which has a very high level of personal satisfaction! The Wildlife Park is a community-based volunteer-run organisation offering a variety of experiences. They consist of Native Animal based experience, grounds keeping experience, retail/tourism experience, or a combination to suit individual requirements. The Park attracts visitors from all over the world, so by hosting international volunteers they hope to provide an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and awareness of cultural differences, exchange ideas and, in turn, make the place more culturally sensitive and an enjoyable environment in which to work and visit. The Park also participates in a variety of structured workplace learning programmes including, disability services and other community work programmes.

AUSTRALIA: Teach Refugee Children Down Under in Perth with TRAVELLERS WORLDWIDE!
Contact:

You will work closely with the children in small groups, as an assistant teacher, to help them as much as possible. You will be working at a school in Perth, the capital city of Western Australia (WA). WA is known as the sunshine state due to its large amount of sunshine every year! You will work as an assistant teacher in the school's IEC (Intensive English Centre). The IEC was established to give refugee children, who have just arrived in Australia through the United Nations Refugee programme, the opportunity to learn English and adapt to the Australian education system before going into mainstream school education. As an assistant to the teacher, you'll have the opportunity to work one-to-one and in small groups with the children to really give them the attention they need. Many of the children's English is very poor, so this is where you can make a real difference. Class sizes vary between 10 and 15 children in each IEC class and you will be teaching children between the ages of 4 and 12. The schools employ a number of teachers to work in the IEC Centre who speak the children's native language and this helps tremendously when the children start to learn English. As well as teaching English, you'll be able to get involved in a number of other subjects within the IEC Centre, such as: * Sports * Music * Drama * Maths * Art * .. and possibly other academic subjects. If you'd like to teach a specific subject that is not listed here, please let us know and we'll arrange it for you.
