Program Overview

Program Description:
The University at Albany's affiliation with Bahçesehir University enables students to take Turkish language courses as well as taking English taught courses in a wide selection of academic fields. Internships (3-credit) and community service (no credit) can also be arranged. University at Albany and Knowledge Exchange Institute jointly administer this study abroad option.

The semester and academic year curriculum offers a wide selection of courses in diverse disciplines and internships (professional, community service, etc.). The required Turkish Language and Culture course is taught by KEI. All other courses are taught at Bahcesehir University (BAU). Internships are organized at various companies, NGOs and humanitarian organizations. Students can enroll in up to 18 credits per semester. Academic year students have the option of doing an internship or independent study between the end of Fall courses and start of Spring courses at BAU. Most courses are 3 credits; Science courses with a lab are 4 credits. Please see our website for more details. The 1-month, 6-credit summer program offers two required courses: Turkish Culture & Society and Turkish Language. The 2-month, 9-credit program combines the two courses with an internship. Setting Description:
Housing is arranged by the program. Students can select on of the two housing options, homestay and shared apartments, depending on interest and space. The University has five different cages and restaurants on campus and there are numerous eating establishments and grocery stores throughout Istanbul. Please see our website for more details.
