Vietnam-Thailand Cultural History Tour

The Vietnam-Thailand Tour (June 20 to July 21, 2008) is a 30day academic travel-study tour which visits Hong Kong. (Hanoi, Hue, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai and Ko Samet. Students must take 3-6 hours credit in history, political science, fine arts, and/or religion.

During our Tibetan Summer Passage we will try to give the students a broader understanding of the Tibetan situation by living in and learning about Tibetan communities: at a refugee community in Darjeeling, India; with ethnically and culturally Tibetan people in Kalimpong and Sikkim, and Tibet itself, both in Lhasa the capital, and in smaller villages and towns.

Global Learning Across Borders Artistic Traditions of Amdo, Tibet
Study with Master Tibetan artists in one of the following medias: thanka (scroll) painting, stone carving, jewelry making, woodcarving and printing, as well as textile weaving and design. Excursions to cultural sites as well as participation in local festivals will supplement these studies.
