The Arts in Russia

The Arts in Russia is an excursion-based course that teaches art history through the collections of the most famous museums of St. Petersburg. You will see areas of the Hermitage not usually open to the public, such as the storage and restoration labs. Students also study the city of St. Petersburg as an artistic statement and as a reflection of its own history. Students interested in furthering their studies of specific collections, or wishing to practice studio art in the Hermitage galleries and/or studios of the Hermitage Youth Center, may request additional elective courses.

The University of Colorado at Boulder offers students interested in Russian language and culture a unique opportunity for summer study in St. Petersburg under the direction of Professor Prof. Artemi Romanov, a CU-Boulder Russian faculty member native of St. Petersburg. During the Summer vacations (June, July) and exciting period of White nights in St.-Petersburg, IIEP SPbSPU offers Summer School programs for students, teachers and specialists in different areas. Generally IIEP is working out the Summer School programs basing on the Partner Institution request for the group of students from Partner Institution though individual students can sometimes participate in the program on space available basis and without introducing alterations into existing program. In this case the number and the names of courses, extra services, cultural program etc. are to be determined by special agreement to meet students' interests and requirement. The possibility of individual students’ participation must be decided by IIEP Administration together with the Partner Institution. As a rule Summer School programs include Russian language classes and some courses offered in English. The names, content and the quantity of courses in English can vary depending on the program. Students can earn Credits on courses learned at IIEP. Information on the courses duration can be given in Certificate in ESTR as well as student’s results can be estimated in the grading system that is in use in student’s University. Still, prospective foreign applicants are kindly advised to contact with the authorities at their higher education institutions on the issue of course recognition.
