The University of Toronto offers 4 to 6 week summer courses in Australia, France, Italy, China, Ecuador, Mexico, England, Germany, Central Europe (Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Poland), Jordan, Kenya, Russia and Japan. Courses are for degree credit and students from any recognized North American university are welcome to participate. The Arts in Russia is an excursion-based course that teaches art history through the collections of the most famous museums of St. Petersburg. You will see areas of the Hermitage not usually open to the public, such as the storage and restoration labs. Students also study the city of St. Petersburg as an artistic statement and as a reflection of its own history. Students interested in furthering their studies of specific collections, or wishing to practice studio art in the Hermitage galleries and/or studios of the Hermitage Youth Center, may request additional elective courses.
