API offers five wonderful locations in Italy to learn about and absorb the Italian culture and way of life. All programs are for undergraduate students. Classes are comprised of other foreign and American students. Semester, summer, and year terms are available for all programs, and a January intersession program is available in Florence. Students typically receive 12-18 credits for a semester; 3-6 credits for a summer session. Most classes are taught in English, though many are taught in Italian. Italian language and intensive Italian programs are taught at all levels, from beginning to advanced.

The Summer in the Mediterranean: Greek Heritage program is designed for students who would like an introduction to Modern Greek in an immersive setting, in one of the only two Greek-speaking countries in the world. You will be based on the modern and beautiful island of Cyprus and travel to Greece and Italy in a series of fascinating and exciting excursions.

The program combines language coursework along with cultural immersion activities in Cyprus and Greece to build basic language proficiency and comprehension. There is also a small program visit to Rome.

The seminar is conducted in English through lecture/discussion sessions and closely coordinated field trips. The class sessions focus on readings in the theory of ideology and the history of art. The field sessions focus upon Roman illusionist painting, Caravaggio and the Counter-Reformation, Baroque sculpture and architecture, and the holdings in futurism and abstraction at the Museum of Modern Art in Rome.

This program is designed for business students who would like an introduction to marketing in an international context. The academic component of this program encompasses both international marketing and cultural studies in order to emphasize the need to understand the culture and environment in any international marketing exercise.

Students will compare marketing across Cyprus, Greece and Italy to marketing in the United States during their field exercises. Students travel to Athens and Rome by air and several Greek islands by cruise ship. This program could be valuable to any business student that is considering an international career, particularly in sales or marketing.

The Summer in the Mediterranean: Music program is intended for undergraduate students in the Performing Arts (Music). Students on this program obtain a unique experience where theory courses are combined with practical courses focusing on Greek music.

Non-major students may enroll in these courses if they have prior knowledge or interest in either music or dance. The program combines language coursework along with cultural immersion activities in Cyprus, Greece and Italy.
