; Considered one of the leading provincial universities in México, the University of Veracruz (UV) was founded in 1944 and offers a wide variety of courses. The University of Veracruz has several faculties spread throughout the city of Xalapa and over 58,000 students in its five regions. The School for Foreign Students (EEE) was founded in 1957 and is one of the most important schools at the UV. The EEE offers courses in Spanish language, culture, literature, history and more.
