Based in the capital, Amman, this program looks at contemporary local and regional issues relating to realities of arid countries, how the supply of resources has affected both internal and intra-regional dynamics, and the organizations and efforts underway to resolve these issues.

Option One ARAB 2000-3000: Intensive Modern Standard Arabic (9 credits/135 class hours)
Option Two ARAB 3000: Intensive Modern Standard Arabic(5 credits/75 class hours) and ARAB 3000: Media Arabic (4 credits/60 class hours) Intermediate or advanced level classes, with study between 15-25 hours a week. Emphasis is on creating an Arabic-only environment that stimulates student learning through content-based lectures on diverse, contemporary topics related to the Arab world, including politics, Islam, family structure, and identity. Instruction takes place in the classroom and in the field.
