This program offers students the opportunity to earn academic credit while spending the summer on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Students are eligible to select one or two courses from the University of Nicosia summer session which offers between 30 and 50 courses across a variety of majors.

You will take courses in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, during the week and during the weekends, you will join us for a series of exciting excursions to the most historically interesting and beautiful parts of Cyprus.

This program appeals to students who are independent in nature and are interested in a study abroad program where they can explore Cyprus at their own pace.

The Summer in Cyprus: International Relations program is designed for IR, Politics and other Social Sciences students who want to gain exposure to the complex geopolitical issues of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Cyprus is a stable and accessible learning laboratory for students to explore current international issues such as the EU enlargement, Greco-Turkish relations, southeastern Mediterranean issues, the Middle East, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

You will take courses in Nicosia, the last divided capital in the world and participate in a series of cultural excursions and educational trips within Cyprus, including visits in both communities as well as the United Nations Forces in Cyprus.

Summer in the Mediterranean: Greek Heritage

The Summer in the Mediterranean: Greek Heritage program is designed for students who would like an introduction to Modern Greek in an immersive setting, in one of the only two Greek-speaking countries in the world. You will be based on the modern and beautiful island of Cyprus and travel to Greece and Italy in a series of fascinating and exciting excursions.

The program combines language coursework along with cultural immersion activities in Cyprus and Greece to build basic language proficiency and comprehension. There is also a small program visit to Rome.

The Summer in the Mediterranean: Music program is intended for undergraduate students in the Performing Arts (Music). Students on this program obtain a unique experience where theory courses are combined with practical courses focusing on Greek music.

Non-major students may enroll in these courses if they have prior knowledge or interest in either music or dance. The program combines language coursework along with cultural immersion activities in Cyprus, Greece and Italy.

This program is designed for business students who would like an introduction to marketing in an international context. The academic component of this program encompasses both international marketing and cultural studies in order to emphasize the need to understand the culture and environment in any international marketing exercise.

Students will compare marketing across Cyprus, Greece and Italy to marketing in the United States during their field exercises. Students travel to Athens and Rome by air and several Greek islands by cruise ship. This program could be valuable to any business student that is considering an international career, particularly in sales or marketing.

The Summer in Cyprus: Geology program is designed for geology students who would like the opportunity to study Cyprus, a geologically interesting country. The Troodos massif is probably the most intensively studied and best known ophiolite in the world. Ophiolites are terrestrial fragments of ancient oceanic lithosphere formed at fossil constructive plate margins.

This program offers a spectacular introduction to art and photography in some of the most beautiful countries in the world. You will take college-level courses in art history, painting or photography and then travel in Cyprus, Greece and, optionally, Italy to draw inspiration from great works of art and beautiful scenery. For more advanced art students, we can help structure a more customized curriculum with personal oversight and attention and, potentially, offer opportunities to exhibit in galleries in Cyprus (depending on the sophistication of your work).

This Summer in the Mediterranean: Early Christianity program traces the footsteps of the Apostles as they advanced Christianity westward through Cyprus, Greece and Italy. You will study the history of early Christian thought and art from a home base in Cyprus, a beautiful and historic island at the crossroads of Europe and the Middle East, and the first country to convert to Christianity.

The Summer in Cyprus: Health Sciences program allows pre-medical, nursing or other allied health students interested in healthcare to learn about the differences in health care management between the United States and Europe as they relate to provision of care, funding, public health, patient education and legal environment. Classroom work is supplemented by site visits to 5-7 public and private hospitals and clinics in Cyprus.

Nursing students can attend a Practicum in a local private hospital which is a rare opportunity to receive real-life experience in a study abroad environment. Non-Nursing students will attend a course in European Cultures.

The primary purpose of this program is to provide participants with the opportunity to examine and explore the historical and contemporary problems and possibilities of conflict, nationalism, the legacies of colonialism, globalization, and conflict resolution, firsthand within a Middle Eastern and European environment. Students will be living and studying in Cyprus, a politically, ethnically, and physically divided country that is both Middle Eastern and European.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in 2 Theater Arts immersion courses (6 credits) and perform in local outdoor amphitheater settings. Students will explore all levels of theatrical creation from play analysis to direction, design, performance, drawing, and movement techniques against the backdrop of ancient civilization, the birthplace of theater. The program will produce two student created public performances and culminate in a gallery show at Nicosia University.
