Latin American University of Science and Technology
; ; The Latin American University of Science and Technology (ULACIT) was founded in 1987 and received its accreditation that same year. The ULACIT offers courses in such diverse areas as Business, Law, Engineering, Humanities, Spanish and General Electives. It is the only private university in Costa Rica that requires Costa Rican students to take an international standardized admissions exam. This exam allows the university to uphold its commitment to academics by recruiting the brightest students in Costa Rica. There is an enrollment of approximately 3,500 Costa Ricans and 100 international students each semester. The facilities are very modern, and there is classroom space for up to 4,000 students. The university is conveniently located in downtown San José. ISA students will have full access to all university facilities such as Internet, study areas and the library. An additional bonus is that only a handful of Americans study abroad at the ULACIT. If you want to truly immerse yourself in an academic setting with Costa Ricans this is the place for you!

; ; Students will study in San José at Veritas University. The Collegium Veritas, created in 1976, was one of the four founding schools of the first private university in Costa Rica. After demonstrating an exceptionally high level of academics for eighteen years, Veritas University became an accredited institution. The University is committed to offering the best in academics while also responding to the practical demands of its students and society. The University is renowned in Costa Rica for its design, art, architecture and photography programs. In addition, the University welcomes international students to study Spanish at its International Programs Department (DPI). There is an enrollment of approximately 1,500 Costa Rican students and about 150 international students during a given semester. All students enjoy access to the university library, computer labs, and study areas.

; ; Founded in 1985, the Universidad Interamericana de Costa Rica (UICR) is now considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in Costa Rica. The school's undergraduate and graduate programs were fully accredited in 1990. Today, the school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees covering a wide area of practical sciences, education, and business related fields. The UICR has its primary campus in the city of Heredia, locally known as the city of flowers. This central campus is conveniently located along the main bus lines going into and out of Heredia from the capital city, San José. The UICR also has a metropolitan campus in the Capital City of San José, located 15-30 minutes by bus or car away from the central campus in Heredia. The metropolitan campus is located in the 11th story of the country's most modern building, the Mercedes Tower.

Students earn 3 credits in Natural Science through an experiential course which combines community service, traditional classroom learning, and cultural activities for an intensive experience. This course explores new world primate biology and behavior as well as threats to primate conservation. During the initial phase of the course, students will survey the natural history, biology, ecology, and behavior of new world primates through lectures and group discussions. Additionally, field exercises will allow students to observe primates and gain familiarity with research methods used by primatologists. During the second phase of the course, lectures and class discussions will examine the conservation threats facing primates throughout the world and strategies to mitigate these threats. Field exercises will focus on obtaining the ecological data that is critical for primate conservation research. Students will also participate in service projects aimed at promoting primate survival in the New World.
