Students learn intercultural tools that will last them a lifetime of field research, as well as making strong connections to a region and a particular topic. The Academic Director and other program staff provide important logistical and academic support that contributes to the students’ success.

Education, Health, Environment, Gender and Labor Focus Areas:
Students can explore topics of interest within four major categories: Education, Health, Environment, and Gender and Labor, or explore a different field of interest (with permission from the Academic Director). Students working within these four categories are easily connected to experts, practitioners, community leaders, workers, and other community members. The contemporary issues seminary provides a foundation in these topics.

Use Spanish to Conduct Research:
This program allows students to integrate their interest in Spanish, contemporary social issues, and research, resulting in a final product of academic excellence and import to the community. Students consistently make extensive progress in Spanish fluency and competency through their research.
