Program Overview

Program Description:
The University of KwaZulu-Natal was established in Pietermaritzburg in 1910 and expanded to include the Durban campus after World War I. Since that time, the University has experienced extensive development and both campuses reflect the University's policy of integration, boasting a large percentage of black and Indian students. In addition, there are international students from over 62 countries. The constant social and academic interaction between students of such varied origins and backgrounds enriches the university community as a whole.

The International School offers the educational experiences that appropriately complement the institution's curriculum while adding significant cultural dimensions to students' life experiences. Students engage in a multi-cultural experience, with opportunities to participate in community projects and to study Zulu language, culture, and art. Setting Description:
The UKZN campus offers a variety of modern facilities and services, including various libraries, a student union, health center and science complex, classroom buildings and dormitories, extensive bus service, and on campus security services. There are also sporting facilities and activities and numerous social organizations you can join. Participants coordinate their housing arrangements with the International Office at UKZN. Housing is available in on-campus dormitories in comfortably furnished single bed-sitting rooms. Residence halls have communal kitchens and laundry facilities and are situated on campus, close to lecture venues and the university library.
