Skidmore in Paris

    France: Paris

Academic Year, Fall Semester, Spring Semester

In addition to one required language course and another required area studies course, students take two elective courses at one of several local universities such as Université de Paris IV - La Sorbonne, Institut Catholique, Schola Cantorum, and others. The academic program involves students in the Parisian cultural life through cultural events, field trips, and excursions that are tied to the curriculum.

Skidmore in Paris program is designed to integrate students to French life through such features as direct enrollment options at various Parisian universities (i.e. Paris IV-La Sorbonne, l'Institut Catholique, Schola Cantorum, and more), guaranteed housing with a host family, full board, an emphasis on involvement in cultural activities, and internships. The equivalent of four or more semesters of previous college-level French language study is required.

The Program Center is situated in central Paris (3rd arron.) and houses administrative offices, a small resource library/computer lounge, and classroom space.

The program fee covers tuition; housing, breakfast and dinner with a host family; a lunch allowance; all program-sponsored excursions; and an on-site orientation. The comprehensive fee for the program is approximately the same as the cost of tuition, room, and board at Skidmore College.
