Philosophical Thought in Greece & Turkey

Beginning in Athens, where the Emperor Julian studied philosophy, we examine the ruins of ancient Greece. We will also read Plato just as Julian did. Our study tour will visit the most important sights in ancient Greece, including Mycenae, Epidaurus, Olympia, Delphi. We will also take a cruise to the island of Crete and visit the ancient ruins of Knossos (the legendary palace of King Minos). Then we will head to Istanbul, the capital of the Roman Empire, first stopping in Ephesus, one of the best-preserved Roman cities and the location of an early Christian church. We will also spend some days and nights at Parmukkale, Pergamun, Aphrodesia, and Troy.
